AI consultant on a monthly retainer

What does an AI consultant on retainer do?

Dean Keating is an AI consultant based in Horndean, Hampshire, who works with UK businesses on a monthly retainer. Each month he finds the next job in the business worth handing to AI, builds an AI agent to do it, installs it in the tools the business already uses, and keeps the agents already running in good order. It suits owner-managed firms with staff who want AI to save money or bring more in, without hiring an AI team. Bookings are by WhatsApp on 07418 627304.

I’m Dean. Think of it as having an AI department, without the salaries. One person who knows your business, decides what’s worth automating, builds it, and is still there next month when something changes.

Why monthly

AI isn’t a job you finish

The first agent you put in takes one job off somebody’s desk. Then you notice the next job. And the one after that. Meanwhile the AI models keep getting better, your software gets updated, and your business changes shape. A one-off project leaves you with whatever was possible on the day it finished. A retainer means there is always somebody whose job is to ask “what should we hand over next?” and then do it.

What you get

What happens every month

A list of what to hand over next

I keep a running list of the jobs in your business worth giving to AI, in the order they’re worth doing.

New agents built and installed

Each month the next job on that list gets built and put to work in the tools you already use.

The ones already running, looked after

Your software changes and so do the AI models. I keep what’s installed working and tune it as your business moves.

Your team shown how

Whoever works alongside an agent gets walked through it, so it becomes part of the day and not a thing in the corner.

Someone to ask

A direct line to me on WhatsApp for “can AI do this?” and “this has stopped doing that”.

A monthly review

What ran, what changed, and what comes next, in plain English, worked out from your own numbers.

Two ways it pays

It saves you money, or it makes you money

Every job I pick has to do one or the other. If it does neither, it doesn’t go on the list.

Saving money

  • ✓ Copying details between systems, spreadsheets and your CRM.
  • ✓ Weekly and monthly reports pulled together with nobody building them.
  • ✓ Invoices raised on time and late payers chased politely.
  • ✓ Documents and missing information chased until they arrive.

Making money

  • ✓ New enquiries answered in minutes, by email, web chat or WhatsApp.
  • ✓ Every quote followed up until it’s a yes or a no.
  • ✓ Past customers contacted when it’s time for them to buy again.
  • ✓ Reviews asked for and answered, so the next customer finds you.

How it starts

From first call to a working month

1

Free call

You walk me through a normal week. I find where the time and the money are going.

2

The list

I come back with the jobs worth automating, in order, and a monthly figure.

3

The first agent

I build the first one against your real systems. You see it working before it goes live.

4

Every month after

The next job gets built, and everything already running is kept in good order.

Who it suits

The businesses that get the most from it

You employ people

The saving comes from hours your staff spend on work a computer could do. No staff, less to save.

You’re busy, not broken

The business works. There just aren’t enough hours, and the next hire is expensive.

You want it done for you

You don’t want a course or a login. You want the job to stop landing on your desk.

Who’s doing the work

I’ve installed AI agents for a flooring company and a stairlift firm, and I run my own businesses on the same kind of agents I build for clients. Before AI, I spent more than ten years in marketing.

FAQ

What owners ask first

How much is an AI consultant on retainer?

It depends on how much you want built and looked after each month, so I don’t quote before I’ve seen how your business runs. The first call is free. After it you get a monthly figure and a clear list of what that month covers.

What is the difference between this and a one-off AI install?

A one-off install puts a set of agents into your business and hands them over. A retainer keeps going after that: each month I pick up the next job on the list, build it, and look after everything already running. Some firms start with an install and move onto a retainer. Some start on the retainer from day one.

Who owns the agents you build?

You do. The agents, the documents and the accounts they run on are yours. Any AI subscriptions are in your name and paid by you straight to the provider, not marked up through me.

Is this consultancy, or do you actually build things?

I build things. Plenty of AI consultancy ends in a report. Mine ends in an agent doing a job in your business. The advice is there to decide what to build next, and what to leave alone.

Do you need to be near us?

No. I’m based in Horndean, Hampshire, and most of the work is done remotely on a shared screen, anywhere in the UK. If you’re in Hampshire or close by, I can come to you.

We handle sensitive client data. Can we still do this?

Usually, yes, but it shapes the design. Tell me on the first call which regulator you answer to and what data is involved. Some jobs can be automated fully, some need a person to approve each step, and some I’ll tell you to leave alone.

Will this replace my staff?

That’s your call, not mine. Most owners I speak to want the same team getting through more work, or want to grow without adding another salary. The agents take the repetitive part of the job. Your people keep the part that needs a person.
